Summer Camp is so important for kids and teenagers. There aren’t many other opportunities where your children can learn new arts and athletic activities, make new friends from around the world, improve their social awareness, their life skills and grow in confidence all at the same place.The camp offers my daughter an amazing opportunity to experience new activities, make new friendships and to grow in her confidence. The setting is safe and well organized. She comes home already looking forward to the next year. We couldn’t ask for a better summer experience.?

We are committed to welcoming and treating all people with dignity and respect.Founded in 1929, Pioneer Camp located in Muskoka, Ontario has been operating ever since as a life-changing summer camp for children and youth.he camp was established by Dr. Howard Guinness, who came to Canada from England as a missionary. Believing that summer camp was also a vital part of spiritual and leadership development for young people, he invited his first group of young leaders and campers to a summer camp experience at Doe Lake, Ontario in July 1929. Pioneer Camps were held at Doe Lake until 1936 when InterVarsity began looking for a permanent, expandable site.

Oxford Community Child Care Inc. is a non-profit organization formed in 1987 by a volunteer Board of Directors. OCCC is a multi-service organization offering early learning and child care, licensed home child care, preschool, and school age programs.Our vision is to partner with community agencies and provide the leadership necessary to offer services that promote the healthy growth, development, and learning in children and their families in Oxford County. OCCC staff are well trained in early childhood education and other specialties. Staff members consist of early childhood educators who are members in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators or who are otherwise approved by the Ministry of Education. Our school age program facilitators come from various backgrounds including early childhood education, child and youth care, recreation and leisure services, and teaching. All staff are certified in Standard First Aid & CPR Level C and have a clear Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Persons Screening. OCCC provides monthly staff meetings that support professional learning and growth, and staff are expected to participate in professional learning opportunities available in the community. The aim of Junction Day Care Centre is to provide a stimulating, yet relaxed program that encourages the social, emotional, intellectual and physical development of each child and is informed by the pedagogical document How Does Learning Happen (HDLH for short). The program’s varied activities promote learning through play and hands on experience. Children are seen as competent, capable, curious and rich in potential, while the adults and educators in their lives are competent, capable and rich in experience to share. Flexibility in the program makes allowances for individual choices and needs. Parent Engagement is essential to the operations of Junction Day Care. Parent participation is considered an integral part of our daycare philosophy. This is achieved by participating on the Board of Directors or by contributing to the well being of the daycare by helping to coordinate special events, communicating with other parents and encouraging a feeling of ‘community’ among all the members. There are daily opportunities to connect with other parents and staff and to share resources with one another. Parents are welcomed into the classrooms to share their expertise and interests with the children (Pandemic restrictions notwithstanding).

Today, we continue that tradition with pride, welcoming 261 children across three locations: 20 infants, 45 toddlers, 72 preschoolers, 52 kindergarten-aged children, and 72 school-age children. Founded in 1971, Leaside Daycare Centres (LDCC) provided a service for infants that was almost non-existent in Toronto at the time. The original site, in the lower level of a duplex on Laird Drive, provided space for 12 children. Expansion was imperative.In 1972, 100 McRae was purchased to provide infant care to 35 children. The residential setting was deliberately chosen and provided an ideal setting for babies, and a pleasant area for their walks.The Preschool Division opened in 1975 at 73 Fleming, at the request of parents interested in continuing care beyond age 21/2.Again a residential setting was chosen, and space provided for 35 children, aged 21/2 to 5.In 1984, a group of parents from the Fleming Centre organized a non-profit group and petitioned the Board of Education of East York to provide space for school age daycare in Leaside. Space was provided in Rolph Road for 40 children from kindergarten through grade 4. Rolph Road Daycare Centre, a non-profit organization run by a parent board, employed LDCC to operate and staff the program.In October of 1994, after a process of more than a year, LDCC converted to non-profit centres. By way of government program, LDCC was purchased by Rolph Road Daycare. Despite the change, the programming, staff and philosophy of the daycare centres remain intact. Indeed, Rolph Road Daycare is carrying on business as LDCC. All centres are operated to provide community care.
