The 10 How’s To Help The Nanny And Kids To Bond
Parenting is a challenging job, with it being more complicated when you have to deal with a demanding career and are confronted with the choice of a center-based care or an in-house care by a nanny. Most conscientious parents would prefer a one-on-one care by a nanny to a center-based care. A one-on–one care by a nanny would only be effective when there is a strong bond between your nanny and your children.
The 10 how’s to help your nanny and kids to bond into a long and productive relationship:
1) Make plans to welcome the nanny: This could be done by encouraging the children to make a card to commemorate the occasion, and work together to come up with a plan for getting Nanny acclimated to the new environment. Getting the children involved would help them get emotionally invested and build the ground for bonding from the very beginning.
2) Parents need to control their feelings of jealousy: Though these feelings are normal, controlling them would help avoid the spilling of the attitude in the children to influence them.
3) Show enthusiasm to the kids: This would convey the message to the children that it is good to be connected with a nanny.
4) Be respectful to the nanny: Be a model to convey respectful, welcoming and warm attitudes regarding the nanny to the children; they will also follow you.
5) Make an effort to avoid a turnover of nannies: This would help children feel more at ease; working to prevent turnover and to hold on to a nanny your kids truly care about will help them to form those bonds.

6) Avoid criticizing the nanny when children are around: Try to control criticism about the nanny in the presence of the children even when you are very angry and blowing steam as this could also influence the attitude of the kids towards the nanny.
7) Parents and nannies should maintain open lines of communication: This would avoid misunderstandings that could also influence the kid’s attitude towards the nanny making them be loyal to parents and disrespectful to the nanny.
8) The nanny should be included in milestone events: Though some nannies may want to set up reasonable boundaries, including them in celebrating kindergarten graduation, birthday parties and the like would send a message of solidarity to the nanny and the children.
9) Encourage trips and outings between nannies and children to make memories : Many bonds are based upon those shared experiences and pleasant memories, so be sure that there’s room in the petty cash fund for a trip to the zoo or a day at a local amusement park.
10) Keep the nanny’s side duties to the minimum: Though you may want to get full money worth of what you pay the nanny, it is best allow the nanny to concentrate on her main duties of caring for the children; she will be unable to do her duty of giving undivided attention for the children if she is caught up in a list of lengthy side duties.
