How to create a safe environment for your Dog
A Dog can be your best companion and at the same time, you are responsible for the well-being of your pet. Creating a cozy environment that is healthy and conducive to your pet dog is important. Just as your home is your haven, it is the refuge and safe place for your dog.
The big question – indoors or outdoors?
Dogs are pack animals – they love being in groups and when part of the family, you are its pack. Being separated from you for too long can be traumatic for your dog and can lead to emotional withdrawal which can be devastating for a dog. However, not all dogs can stay indoors!

Safe Kennels
If your dog is huge and heavy, an outdoor kennel is best. However, make sure that it is a safe place that is dry and away from nature’s elements. Direct sunlight, winds and open to rain or snow can be very damaging for the dog’s health. Ensure the kennel is in a shady place away from a direct wind. If you live in a cold place, the kennel should be heated or the dog should be taken in on cold days.

Crates/Dog Beds
Smaller dogs that make less mess and fit right in your home can be kept indoors if you are open to it. Dogs love to stay indoors with their owners but you need to establish boundaries to make sure there is discipline in the house.

If you dog has the habit of getting dirty make sure that he does not get on your bed or couch. Boundary behavior can be altered with the right training. The same applies for outdoor dogs who tend to stray far away from your premises. You can also make use of fences to keep a check on your dog.
Strict Diet
Dogs have the tendency to eat human food and also chew up on plants and gobble up any pills lying around. These could be potentially dangerous for their health. Human food is not a bad thing but clear it up with your vet if the food you plan to treat your dog is healthy enough.

Some garden plants/flowers can be poisonous for your dog! Make sure you train your dog not to eat your garden plants! Human medication can be deadly for dogs! Ensure that you keep it away from the reach of your dog.
